Tempe Empty Bowls
empty_bowls_logo.jpg

Empty Bowls is organized by a volunteer committee who's work starts in September and meets until the event in February.

Hand-crafted bowls, made by potters at the City of Tempe Ceramics Program, local artists and by Tempe area high school and middle school students, are available for a minimum donation of ten dollars. With the purchase of a bowl, Whole Foods Market offered a simple meal of soup and bread (symbolic of the caloric intake that must sustain many in the world for an entire day).

Friday’s entertainment included music from Walt Richardson, and Saturday from Randy Olson and Friends.

The annual event raised more than $15,000.00 as well as hunger awareness and its impact in our community! Proceeds benefit Tempe Community Action Agency www.tempeaction.org and United Food Bank www.unitedfoodbank.org.

The Empty Bowls Committee would like to thank the following organizations for their generous support of this event: The City of Tempe, The City of Tempe Cultural Services Ceramics Program, Marjon Ceramics, Emerson, Tempe Elementary School District, Tempe Union High School District, Walt Richardson, Beyond Graphix, Laguna Clay, Tempe Convention and Visitors Bureau and Whole Foods Market.
